NZ Mental Health Charity Campaign 2020/21

Update: This Campaign is now closed:

Through the generosity of everyone that donated, and the support from the amazing Campaign Sponsors listed below, we raised $5637.00 The total amount of all funds raised went directly to FarmStrong New Zealand. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved on all levels. Check back soon as we have more community and charity initiatives planned.

For most of us, 2020 has been a year of uncertainty and unexpected pressure on our mental wellbeing. Sadness, worry, confusion, distress, and anxiety were and still are, widespread resulting outcomes of a period of time, no one saw coming. They are also totally expected and normal reactions!

While New Zealand as a country seems to be ahead of the curve in managing COVID-19, the ensuing and very real impacts on our mental health and healthcare providers remain painfully present.

It may be a subtle note in the media or a direct conversation from a radio host who’s devoted much time to the topic, but the message is clear; Kiwis continue to suffer.

The stark reality is that some of us won’t see out the year, and the system and resources that exist to help, are heavily stretched and in need of support.

Eat What You Kill has partnered with Wood For The Trees Charitable Trust to run a Mental Health Charity Campaign from mid-December 2020 until the end of January 2021.

We will utilize generously donated items from amazing businesses, brands, and individuals within our community and network, to promote donations and exposure for the campaign.

From mid-December 2020 we will open an avenue to make a donation/s, the campaign will run until the end of January 2021. (Donations of any size are so welcome. I know that it’s been a tough year financially too!)

Everyone who makes a donation of $25.00 or more will go into the draw to win the entire prize pool from our generous sponsors. If you are in a position to donate $50.00 or more, you will get two entries.

Please note, the winner must reside in New Zealand.

100% of the money raised in this campaign will go to the WOOD FOR THE TREES Charitable Trust and then be distributed directly to those in need – together we are currently reaching out to and researching groups and initiatives who could most benefit from these funds.

Wood For The Trees (CC51167) is a Kiwi Charitable Trust run by a committee of five passionate individuals, including Gareth from Victory Knives. It was formed on the back of two close friends checking out voluntarily as a result of mental illness.

“Can’t see the wood from the trees”

If someone can’t see the wood for the trees, they are unable to understand what is important in a situation because they are giving too much attention to detail. This simple phrase broadly covers all forms of mental illness.
