Bluefin Tuna Tataki

With all these bluefin being caught at the moment, I thought it’s only right to do a bluefin Tataki recipe. Very simple and easy but full of flavour. A big shout out to Holly for the yummy Bluefin.

  • 200g Bluefin Tuna, cut into logs
  • 4 Tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 Tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 4 Tbsp white sesame seeds
  • Garnishing’s:
  • 2 spring onion shoots, sliced
  • Kewpie Mayo
  • Fresh chilli
  • Chilli oil

Take a non stick pan and heat it over a high heat.

Cover your bluefin in olive oil on all four sides.

On a plate, add all the sesame seeds and mix them together.

Dredge the bluefin in the seeds, covering all four sides.

Add a glug of olive oil to the hot pan then add the bluefin.

Count for 15 seconds and then turn it to the next side. Repeat until add sides are done and them place on a plate and whip it straight into the freezer for 3-4 minutes (we do this to stop the cooking process and it also makes it easier to slice).

With your sharpest large knife, slice your bluefin and arrange on a platter.

Garnish with spring onion, Kewpie mayo, fresh chilli + soy sauce + chilli oil , and extra sesame seeds.

Enjoy, x Nicky
